Rafael E. Salazar II, MHS, OTR/L

Rafael E. Salazar II, MHS, OTR/L (Rafi) is a licensed Occupational Therapist based in Georgia. Rafi has worked in a variety of settings and in varying roles from staff clinician, academic (professor), healthcare consultant, and private practice owner. He has helped to establish interdisciplinary pain management programs and has worked on projects ranging from patient engagement initiatives to marketing communication campaigns to a multi million dollar project assisting the State of Georgia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities transition individuals out of state institutions to community residences. In this role, Rafi developed case management procedures for, Integrated Clinical Support Services, created SOPs for home assessment and modification, and worked to develop Clinical & Operational Guidelines for the implementation of virtual service delivery throughout the state. His work on Telehealth has been discussed in Forbes. He has served on various boards and committees including a role on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

Rafi’s career trajectory includes 12+ years of experience in healthcare management, clinical operations, programmatic development, marketing & business development. He even spent some time as an Assistant Professor in a Graduate Program of Occupational Therapy and has served on numerous boards and regulatory committees. He is the host of The Better Outcomes Show and he is also the author of the book Better Outcomes: A Guide to Humanizing Healthcare.Today, Rafi helps innovative healthcare companies like technology startups, platforms, SaaS companies and provider organizations develop effective positioning strategy and business development plans though his consulting work. He also leverages his experience as a professor and academic to speak and train on the on the topics around humanizing the healthcare experience, technology-enabled healthcare, value-based healthcare models, and healthcare innovation. In addition, Rafi also owns and operates ProActive Rehabilitation & Wellness, a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic treating patients with musculoskeletal pain.
